I can't quite understand why Dell has chosen to make it overly difficult to get their integrated webcams working properly. I did a clean Windows 7 install on SSD on a Inspiron One All-in-one , and it was extremely difficult to find the sequence of events to get the integrated webcam working properly.
I seriously thought, when Michael returned, he was going to rid the company of it's incompetent leadership. To make the support of such a small part of the system so difficult is senseless. If there is anyone DellCares monitoring, please recommend simple management of the integrated webcams. All work just fine. The Vista Hardware Drivers work just fine. In fact the Win7 install drivers are good too. This Version Includes the webcam effects.. One note if using Windows 8.
So in order to get the camera app to work - I had to roll back the driver version to 6. And then had to block windows from trying to update the driver automatically control panel - system - advanced system settings - hardware tab - device installation settings select NO and Never.
